Sydney Swan Daniel Hannebery has taken out the 2010 NAB AFL Rising Star Award overpowering the other nominees. Hannebery received the maximum 45 votes from the All Australian judging panel. Melbourne's Tom Scully came second with 35 votes followed by Brisbane Lion Tom Rockliff who amassed 24 votes.
The tradition continued as last year's winner Daniel Rich presented Hannebery with the medal. As a reward for winning he receives a $20,000 investment portfolio and a dedicated personal banker, courtesy of National Australia Bank.
Hannebery was nominated after a stunning round 2 performance against Adelaide, he racked up 23 possessions in their round two win at AAMI Stadium.
He averaged 21 possessions throughout his 19 games this season. His best game came when Sydney played Fremantle in round 20, he managed 38 possessions.
Hannebery is only the second Sydney player to win the award after Adam Goodes in 1999.
Do you think he deserved it? why/why not?
