Freo smashed by rampant Cats

Geelong will now play Collingwood in a blockbuster preliminary final after belting Fremantle by 69 points at the MCG on Friday night.

The match was all but over after the first quarter, with Geelong kicking eight goals and only allowing the Dockers one goal for the quarter. Fremantle showed patches of class as they tried to stay in the game but the experienced Cats were too much for them, Geelong winning 20.15 (135) to 10.6 (66).

Fremantle surged in the third quarter, kicking successive goals. However they could only muster three goals before Cameron Ling gave his team a 49 point three quarter time lead after setting up a goal.
