Exclusive: Is Lindt & Sprüngli going out of business?

I was recently informed by a source that the world-famous Swiss chocolatier is going out of business due to a recent decline in sales. I am very sceptical about this and see it as a lowly attempt at comedy and a big rumour.

There is no doubt that the swiss chocolate is incredibly sumptuous, but this rumour says that the exclusiveness of the brand seems to have caused trouble amongst consumers. There have been many arguments that the chocolate simply costs too much to purchase and that anyone can go to their local supermarket and get a much cheaper brand that tastes the same.

I have heard many people say that they can't afford to indulge in what used to be their favourite chocolate and now shop at places like Aldi for Easter and cheeky snacks.

The company had a rich history spanning back to 1845, but it appears that it will soon be coming to an end. The company's recent group sales slipped 3.5 percent as consumer sentiment worsened.
For most, it is the end of an era of Lindor Balls, the Excellence range and of course, the Gold Bunny range that celebrates it's 60th birthday this year.

I have spoken to many people about the subject and they all said that Lindt is a great business and they don't see why they are shutting up shop, if the rumours are true. However, there is a sad reality we must all face, the competitive nature of the food industry may be putting too much pressure on Lindt to perform.

if these rumours are indeed true it would be a sad and abrupt end to a company with a rich tradtition for excellence and customer satisfaction. However, as I said before, I believe that these allegations are simply rumours. My source actually had some evidence of a store closing going out of business through a picture.
