New internet craze “teapotting” is destined to become the latest phenomenon to dominate social media sites such as Facebook.
A Facebook page for the craze has already attracted dozens of pictures and nearly 2,000 fans. Teapotting is being marketed as a safer alternative to lying flat on your stomach, face down with your arms pinned by your side as you stay motionless, a dangerous activity called "planking".
Teapotting lets enthusiasts keep their feet as they raise one arm to mimic a spout while the other forms a handle.
It's not necessary for participants to sing "I’m a little teapot", but doing so attracts more attention.
The Facebook page states: "Teapotting is delicate and understated. It is at its most amusing when achieved during a conversation with a superior, especially when they don't notice".
"Unlike Planking, Teapotting is non-hazardous. We can almost guarantee that no one will be hurt while attempting a Teapot."
