Kony 2012: Is there a dark side to 'Kony 2012'

Every day it seems that the mystery behind the Kony 2012 campaign run by a group called Invisible Children continues to unravel.

Invisible Children, the organisation that surged to fame as its video 'Kony 2012' has received more than 75 million views on youtube in only eight days.

The group has been criticised for not spending enough money directly on the cause, instead using it for advertising, merchandise and other administrative costs. The group is said to be underestimating and oversimplifying the Lord's Resistance Army, led by Joseph Kony, who is wanted for crimes against humanity.

This raises a serious question, how do people who sponsor the group know where their money is going?

Some people believe that Kony 2012 is some sort of cult that is changing the way people think and act, but is not doing enough for the 'cause'.

Can people who wish to sponsor really trust that their money is going to the captured children, or will it be spent on posters or transport?

This is a really interesting issue that a lot of people will have opinions on. The whole aim of the group seems legitimate, but is their a darker side to the story that people don't know?

It would be greatly appreciated to know what others think? If you have an opinion please don't hesitate to share it by commenting.
