The Chicago Blackhawks will be without forward Ben Smith for the rest of the season. Smith will undergo surgery next Thursday to repair a right hip labral tear and a hernia.The club announced that the 23-year old is expected to make a full recovery in approximately 16 weeks.
Smith has only played 13 games this season for the Blackhawks, registering a total of 2 goals. He is third in goal scoring for the AHL Rockford IceHogs with 15 goals and has 31 points from 38 games for Rockford this season.
