On this day: 1934 - American bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde are ambushed and killed by police in Black Lake, Louisiana

File:Bonnieclyde f.jpgBonnie and Clyde were well-known American robbers and criminals who travelled Central United Stated with their gang during the Great Depression. Their deeds captured the attention of the American public between 1931 and 1934.

Clyde Barrow is known today for his many bank robberies but he preferred to rob small stores or rural gas stations.

The team is believed to have killed at least nine policeman and numerous civilians. The couple was eventually ambushed and killed by police in Louisiana.
