US consulate in Pakistan bombed, one dead and 11 wounded.

Roadside bomb hits US consulate vehicle, 2 killed 10 injuredA bomb targeting two US consulate cars exploded in Pakistan’s north-western city of Peshawar today, killing one person and wounding 11 others.

The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.

"Two vehicles of the US consulate were on their way to the consulate when they were attacked," US embassy spokesman Alberto Rodriguez said.

"One vehicle was damaged. There is no death among our personnel and there are no serious injuries," he added.

"Only one car was hit. In that car there were US citizen diplomats and a Pakistani driver," Rodriguez said.

Officials confirmed a local man riding on a motorbike was killed and 11 others wounded, including two foreigners.

Two foreigners who received minor injuries have been allowed to leave the hospital.
